1) |
Each arch is
marked for "Drop." For example, an 8" drop will be noted
on the throat piece as the second digit of the arch
code >> 42/8. Measure down from the bottom of the upper
framing member, the amount of "Drop" + 1/2" (tail
length.) Draw a squared line at this distance across the
inside face of the vertical framing member. |
2) |
Slip the 1/2
arch over the framing members and align the 1/2" tail
with the squared line. Make sure the arch is snugged
firmly to the framing members at the peak and tail.
Install a screw or nail thru the nailing flange near the
bottom (Nail #1) |
3) |
Again, making
sure the arch is snug to the horizontal framing member,
screw or nail thru the top nailing flange (Nail # 2),
then screw or nail at outermost corner of nailing flanges
(Nail # 3) |
4) |
Follow the
same procedure to the opposite side of the 1/2 arch. |
5) |
Install the
other 1/2 of the arch in the same manner. |
|
NOTE: Always work from the bottom to the
top. |
|
The Arch
functions equally as well whether they lap over 1" at top
center or if there is a 1" gap at top center. The final
product will not be affected in appearance. |

For ease of
installation on wood framing, our company has
designed a double-faced magnetic hammer. A 3/4" roofing
nail can be driven thru the arch nailing flange and into
the wood with a single stroke. This tool allows even
large arches to be installed by a single person and
decreases installation time. For more information on this
tool and its availability, please contact our sales
representative.
